Hello, my name is Janica. I will tell you the history of the SOS Miracle Foundation, in my own words. **********************************************************************
A few years back, I was inspired to collect toys and clothing from Japanese families so I could provide Christmas presents to children who would otherwise not receive one. I asked children across Japan for their clothing and toys that they had out-grown. The response was amazing. My apartment was FLOODED from ceiling to floor with boxes of practically perfect clothing and toys.
I shipped the clothing and toys to Atimonan, Philippines and a children's home in Uganda.
The first gift-giving in Atimonan
In Atimonan, a youth group organized a city event, where hundreds of children gathered. It was very organized and everyone was so very happy. I received photos after, along with photos of banners of thank you volunteers had made to express their gratitude for the toys and clothing. I have never seen such gratitude from anyone in my entire life. I decided to continue this gift-giving tradition on a bi-yearly basis.
My brother giving toys at a gift-giving event
The children in Uganda were also very grateful. There are so many places to send clothing and toys to, but for the time being, I am focusing efforts on Atimonan. In the future, I will include other regions around the world. In the photo book below, you can see photos of past gift-giving events.
In January of 2007, I decided to extend support to Atimonan. I heard word of an elementary school in this region (Atimonan Central School) that had 2,000 + students, but no toilet or sewer system. I sent over the funds to cover a sewage system and toilets for this school.
After this, I requested the school to screen children that cannot afford basic elementary school education.
In April of 2007, I visited out to this region with my brother Christopher, to interview the children wanting education and also learn about other projects I could help out with.
Interviewing potential students
For the past two years, I have been supporting this region on a personal basis. In May of 2007, I filed for NPO status and am still waiting for the final documents to go through. The foundation's name is the SOS Miracle Foundation.
The photos throughout this site are of the children applying for education, as well as other projects we learned about that are desperately needed.
Currently, nearly 70 children are going to elementary school, thanks to your support. The children with individual sponsors receive meals, tutoring, tuition and other benefits. For more information on how to become a sponsor, please visit our sponsorship site at www.dollaradaymiracle.com

Gift-Giving
Various photos of gift-giving. Because of the generous support from my family and friends, I have been able to send over enough items to supply a total of 5 gift-giving events.
Photos of a confidence-building work-shop in Atimonan. 200 women gathered for this event. Friends in the U.S. and Japan donated women's clothing and accessories to present to the women as gifts this day. Thank you for your support.
